Monster God mashed!

If only for the chapter "Ghosts," Dakota: A Spiritual Geography is must reading. Author Kathleen Norris describes how her move from New York City to rural South Dakota has formed her as a poet and person. Most impressing on me is her church experience, well-meaning relatives and others eliciting fear of God and disdain for organized religion more than anything else. What a wonder that she has come through such an ordeal and, more than that, that she's found herself not too religious to go to church after all! Hopefully others in like scenarios will find the same thing.
