Ironically, the Greek word for kindness, chrestos, is almost exactly like christos, the Greek word for Christ. Need more be said?
"Kill 'em with kindness," the saying goes. Hmmm... Kind of like Jesus' killing--for us!
Brown's quote above reminds of St. Francis of Assisi's "Preach the Gospel at all times. If necessary, use words"--also "But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy" (Titus 3:4-5). From mercy killing to mercy that's killing me--but only proverbially, mind you, and in the most positive sense!
